Profile customization

Your profile is what others see when they click your name in the sidebar. Fancy Mumble lets you make it look the way you want.

Open it from Settings, Profile.

Profile settings panel showing an Identity dropdown set to MumbleUser, a Default Username field, Avatar section with a circular thumbnail and Edit Avatar button, Banner section with Edit Banner button, and a Bio rich-text editor. A preview card on the right shows the avatar and username.

Username

Your default username is what gets pre-filled in the connect wizard. Servers may also store a registered name, see Identities.

Avatar

A square picture. Crop with the built-in editor.

Banner

Wide image shown on top of your profile card. Plain image or animated gradient.

Bio

A small text editor with bold, italic, color, and inline images.

Name style

Font, weight, italic, color, gradient, glow. Live preview.

Decoration

A small icon next to your name (sparkle, fire, ice, rainbow, gold, neon, glitch).

Nameplate

Gradient background behind your name in user lists.

Avatar frame

A colored or animated ring around your avatar.

Animated effect

Subtle effects on your card: particles, sparkle, snow, embers.

Custom CSS

Expert-only. Drop custom styles into the card for your power-user friends.

  1. Open Settings, Profile.

  2. Click the avatar circle (or the Edit avatar button).

  3. Drag and drop or browse for a PNG, JPG, GIF, or WebP.

  4. The image editor opens. Crop to a square. The round mask is just how it looks, the file itself stays square.

  5. (Optional) Toggle GIF to keep the source animated.

  6. Click Save.

Edit Avatar dialog with a small circular preview at the top, Image / GIF and Klipy GIF tabs, a large circular crop preview in the centre, a Remove button, and Discard / Apply buttons

The banner sits above your profile card.

  1. Settings, Profile, Edit banner.
  2. Drop an image, or pick a preset gradient.
  3. (Optional) Tweak the vertical offset so the focal point is centered.
  4. Click Save.

The bio editor supports:

  • Bold, italic, underline.
  • Text color (a 12-swatch quick-pick palette plus a custom picker).
  • Inline images (pasted, dropped, or from a URL, resized to 400x400 max).
  • Links.

The bio is shown to other people when they click your name. Length is capped at 2000 characters.

The Name Style section lets you restyle how your name renders in chat and in the sidebar. These styles only show to other Fancy Mumble users, vanilla Mumble shows your plain username.

Pick from a curated list (system, monospace, serif, display, pixel, handwritten).

Four layers stack on your card. All four are optional and can be combined.

The live preview card on the right of the panel updates as you pick.

If you use multiple identities, for example one for a gaming server and one for work, Fancy Mumble keeps a separate profile per identity. Switching identity automatically loads the right one.

Bio2000 characters

Inline bio image400x400, around 80 KB
Bannerup to about 1 MB
  • Bio colors and images are missing, the server has disabled rich rendering.
  • Avatar reverts after reconnect, the server’s file storage is offline. The app falls back to the inline avatar.
  • Name style is invisible to a friend, they are on a vanilla client.
  • Save button is disabled, the username field is empty.
  • A teammate’s profile shows only their avatar, with no banner, name style, or decorations: either they have not set up any customization yet, or the server’s file server is offline and their uploaded images cannot be loaded. Profile styling metadata is stored in the user comment field and always synced; only images hosted on the file server (custom avatar uploads, custom banner images) require the file server to be reachable.
